Great Eastern Run

This Half marathon starting and ending at Peterborough cathedral passes through the city centre and heads out into suburbia, heavily supported by residents that are happy to fill you with sweets as you make your way round the course, heavily attended the atmosphere of the race can ( and for me did) push you to run harder than you think you could, with barely any incline, this is definitely a PB course.

The Medal

This is a large brushed metal pendant with a depiction of Peterborough Cathedral and the race name coloured in enamel with the date beneath, surrounded with a thick boarder displaying ‘Great Eastern Run’ and ‘Peterborough’. the detailing of the cathedral is very high quality and with its ample weight it really helps with the prestige of the medal, it also has a slot for iTab inserts.

The Ribbon is soft and silky with high quality printing displaying the race name and logo along with the race organisers branding, I do feel that the organisers should scale back their branding in this instance as it dwarfs that of the event name and logo.

Overall I rate this medal 7/10, the brushed finish with the detailing in the design and heavy feel really make this medal feel prestigious, but improvements in the ribbon would elevate this further.
