The Holkham 10k is held on the Holkham estate on the north coast of Norfolk, this race takes place mostly on tarmac with occasional offroad sections, the first 3km is uphill along rough rubble-esq trails.
The blistering heat on the day of the race was compounded by the questionable placing of the water stations, at 4km and 8km, with the heat that day id have liked to see a few more.
The finish takes place on the finish for the triathlon to great fanfare and our arrivals being heralded by the announcers with a PA, it was quite a novelty running the last 100m on the bright orange carpet.
The Medal
A smaller metal medal in the shape of a shield and a black finish, displaying ‘Holkham 10k’ in enamel and a textured finish, the ribbon mounting is on the back of the medal which means when hanging, the pendant tips forward slightly, which personally I find annoying. however in general the quality and finish of the pendant are good.
There is also a space for an iTab insert.
| Weight | 58g |
| Dimensions | 54mm x 59mm |
| Material | metal and enamel |
The Ribbon is high quality, printed with the race name and ‘Finisher’ with a nice fading striped effect in the background.
Overall I rate this medal 6/10
Its smaller size and ribbon mounting mechanism really hurt this score, but the ribbon quality makes back some lost ground.
