Bungay Summer Series

This is a series of 3 10km races in the scenic rural lands surrounding Bungay in Suffolk. its a relatively flat, on road course with the last 3Km taking place on forest track and finishing on the track at the Black Dog Running Club.

The Medal

these medals are an interesting one, a slate disk laser etched with the black dog logo and a Clarice Cliff-esq sun in the background. the club name, race name and number are displayed between the rays of light. with no ribbon these medals serve more as coasters, which is further reinforced by the felt backing, I question the longevity of these pendants as coasters however as in transporting one of them home it suffered some damage to the text, a life of supporting crockery would be a short one for this medal.

Weight51g each
Dimensions83mm Dia.
MaterialSlate

I like the intention of this medal but feel that some kind of coating or deeper etching would have made them more usable as coasters. this no ribbon design also poses a problem in displaying them, a solution i decided on was 3d printing a stand to support them more as a trophy.

Overall I rate these medals 5/10

points for originality, but lost points due to quality control.
