Big Stampede

The Big Stampede organised by the Norfolk Gazelles takes place at the Norfolk showground where teams of 4 take turns running 5 km each in a relay race. the course it essentially completely flat bar one mild dip on good surfaces and is ideal for setting PBs, this format also allows slower runners to run alongside faster runners and its looped format means supporters are able to cheer you on.

The Medal

The Medal flexes its Eco friendly credentials by using a wooden medal with laser engraving. the design represents the 4 different legs of the race with a different breed of gazelle surrounded by a boarder displaying the race name. The Quality of the medal and engraving are good and the design and size of the medal work well.

Personally I prefer metal medals

Weight32g
Dimensions77mm dia.
MaterialWood

The ribbon is high quality, soft and silky material in red with a black egde and displays the organisers name and logo, the ribbon is stitched at the medal mounting preventing the ribbon from moving through it, a nice touch, which also means there is no awkward seam to hide when displaying.

Overall I rate this medal 4/10 the ribbon brings this score up but a wooden medal really doesn’t convey the sense of prestige such an adornment should.
