Marham Flyers New Year’s Eve 10K

I have previous experience with this race, I could almost consider it my nemesis, the flat open air base is a prime candidate for personal records, but during my last outing the sun decided to turn the pristine newly laid tarmac surface into a frying pan. this time however it was a crisp winter morning, fully rested from the lul in the race calendar, I was on the road to a mention in the Monday night PB announcements.

It was not to be. After setting out at PB pace for the first 5km, the previously unnoticed slight inclines took their toll and knocked my pace under the required speed, and after a while I resigned to helping a friend complete her first 10km and enjoyed the ride.

The Medal

Another Shining example of what to expect from an event put on by the Marham Flyers, a large metal and enamel pendant with a rotating jet fighter, the quality of the medal is extremely high in both the casting and enamel work. the Jet is surrounded with a boarder containing the RAF roundels, ‘The Marham Flyers’ and ‘Lightning New Years Eve 10k’

As with the summer race we were also treated to a goodie bag filled with sweet treats and a custom beer from a local brewery, 10/10 for the goodie bag!

Weight130g
Dimensions90mm Dia.
MaterialMetal and enamel

The Quality of the ribbon matches the quality of the pendant. soft, silky and extremely broad, the RAF Marham crest is printed next to the name of the race in very high quality as well as the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

Overall I rate this medal 10/10, the unique spinning jet, overall quality of the medal and ribbon set this medal apart from the rest.
